Special religious programmes held at Kataragama shrine to mark 77th Army Anniversary...
As another important event in the series of religious blessing programmes being held to mark the 77th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, a special religious programme to seek blessings for the Army flags was held at the historic Kataragama Kirivehera shrine and the Kataragama Devalaya premises.
First, the Chief Sanghanayake of Ruhunu Magampattuwa, the Chairman of the Hambantota District Sagha Conference and the Chairman of the Kataragama Shasanarakshaka Bala Mandala, the Chairman of the Hela Bodu Bala Oyematuwa, visited the Kataragama Purana Kiri Viharaya and the historic Kataragama Kirivehera Rajamaha Viharaya and received blessings from the Incumbent of the Four Great Temples, Most Venerable Kobawaka Dhamminda Thero. After this, the Chief Incumbent of the Kataragama Purana Kiri Viharaya and the historic Kataragama Kirivehera Rajamaha Viharaya, received blessings from the Most Venerable Kobawaka Dhamminda Thero.
The religious program held under the patronage of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne, was held to receive blessings for the Sri Lanka Army Flag, Regimental Flags and Unit Flags.
The "Dhamsak Buddha Medura" being constructed with the help of Army labour at the historic Kataragama Kirivehera Rajamaha Viharaya was also inspected...
Following this, a ceremonial procession of flag bearers carrying Army flags proceeded to the Kataragama Devalaya premises. Religious rituals and offerings were also performed there to seek blessings for the Army flags.
A large number of senior officers and officials of the Sri Lanka Army participated in this religious programme, which was held with the main objective of seeking blessings for the safety, well-being and prosperity of all serving Army personnel, as well as the entire community of war heroes including the war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the motherland and the disabled war heroes.
